Delivery and pickup windows
The four window fields on an order, how they differ from the rental dates, and where customers see your policy.
Every order has two sets of dates, and they do different jobs.
Rental dates vs windows
Date Range, meaning Start Date and End Date, is the rental period. It's what availability is checked against and what the customer is billed for. Both are required.
Delivery & Pickup Windows are the operational promise: when you'll actually turn up. Four optional fields, each a date and a time:
- Delivery Window Start
- Delivery Window End
- Pickup Window Start
- Pickup Window End
A rental might run the 3rd to the 10th while you deliver between 8am and 11am on the 3rd and collect between 1pm and 5pm on the 10th. That's the distinction: the rental dates say how long they have the totes, the windows say when your truck is at the door.
Filling them in
Open the order and scroll to Delivery & Pickup Windows. They're editable while the order is a Draft and become read-only once it's held or booked, along with the rest of the draft fields.
Leaving them blank is fine. Availability doesn't use them, so an order with no windows is still a valid order. You just haven't written down when you're going.
Telling customers your policy
The windows on an order are internal. What customers read before they book is the Delivery & pickup policy on Store front, under Customer-facing content. That's the free-text field for your service area, your standard windows, and any delivery fees.
Write the general rule there once; use the per-order windows for the specific promise on the day.
What isn't here yet
There's no route-day board, no driver view, and no automatic notification to the customer when a window is set. Those are on the roadmap. Today the windows are a field on the order that your team reads, a shared note rather than a dispatch system.
