Roles and what each one can do

Owner, admin, operator, and viewer. What each role can reach, and how the limits are enforced.

Everyone in your workspace holds exactly one of four roles. They stack: each one can do everything below it.

Owner

Full access. The only role that can invite another owner. Typically whoever signed the company up.

Admin

Everything an operator can do, plus the settings and integrations that owners control, including connecting Stripe and Google Analytics. An admin can invite people up to admin, but not owner.

Operator

The day-to-day role. Create and edit orders, place and release holds, confirm bookings, scan totes in and out, flag damage, manage customers and pools.

What an operator can't do is set up payments or other integrations. Those screens tell them so directly: "Only owners and admins can set up payments."

Viewer

Read-only. Can see orders, inventory, and customers; cannot change anything.

The read-only limit is enforced in the database itself, not just by hiding buttons. A viewer's write is refused at the data layer regardless of how it's attempted. The same is true of the boundary between your workspace and anyone else's: a member of one company cannot read another's data, whatever the request looks like.

Choosing a role

  • Yard and office staff taking bookings → operator.
  • A bookkeeper or partner who needs to see the numbers → viewer.
  • Someone who needs to touch Stripe or integrations → admin.
  • Owner → keep it to the people who should be able to hand out ownership.

Changing someone's role

There's no team management screen in the dashboard yet, and the Settings page is thin in this build. To change a role or remove access, contact us. See Inviting a team member.
