Start your 14-day free trial
How to sign up, confirm your email, and understand the trial countdown and what happens when the trial ends.
Signing up takes about two minutes, and the trial starts the day you sign up. You get 14 days on a full plan (Starter or Growth), and orders taken during the trial never count toward your plan's allowance, so there is nothing to pace yourself against.
Pick a plan
Self-serve signup offers two plans:
- Starter: 10 online orders a month included, 1 location.
- Growth: 30 online orders a month included, 3 locations.
Prices for both, monthly or yearly, are on the pricing page. Custom (negotiated price and allowance) is set up through a conversation with OnTote, not through the signup form. Picking Starter now does not lock you in; upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. See Manage your OnTote subscription and billing.
Create your account
1. Go to the signup page (every Start free trial link on ontote.com lands here). If you got there from a pricing CTA, your plan is already selected.
2. Enter your first name, last name, and work email.
3. Set a password, or leave the password blank. Blank means you sign in with a six-digit emailed code instead. Either works the same afterwards.
4. Enter your company name and your company URL. The company URL becomes your storefront address, `yourname.ontote.store`, so pick it like a customer is going to type it, because they are.
5. Submit. You land on a Check your email page.
Confirm your email
1. Find the email with the subject Confirm your OnTote email. Check spam if it is not in your inbox; the sender is OnTote, not your own storefront address.
2. Click the link within 24 hours. Links work once and then expire.
3. Sign in at the login page. You will see Email confirmed. Sign in to continue. That's it.
If you try to sign in before confirming, you will not get in. This is expected, not a bug. Click the link first, then sign back in.
The trial countdown banner
Once you are in, a banner sits at the top of the dashboard: "N days left in your free trial," with a See plans link that opens your Subscription page. Two things worth knowing about it:
- The banner is visible to owners, managers, and office staff, not to field users. Dismissing it with the X only hides it for the rest of your browser session.
- At 3 days left, the banner turns warning-colored and the X disappears. The countdown is telling you to pick a plan or add a card, not testing you.
When the trial ends
The Subscription page shows the exact date: "Your free trial ends {date}." Two things can happen on that date:
- You added a card before then. Billing starts, and nothing changes. Your storefront, data, and team carry on.
- You did not. The subscription pauses, which means your storefront stops taking new online orders. Customers see a message that the store is not taking online orders right now. Your dashboard, your data, and your existing reservations are untouched, and you can add a card at any point to resume.
If something goes wrong
- No confirmation email arrived: check spam, then use the resend form on the confirm page. A new single-use link goes to the same address.
- The confirmation link says "This link has expired": links expire after 24 hours and work once. Enter your email on that page and a new one is sent.
- You signed up with the wrong email: sign up again with the correct one. The first workspace has no owner and no data worth saving.
