See who changed what in the activity log
How to read the account-wide activity log in Settings → Account and billing, and what each row tells you.
Something changed in your account and you want to know who did it. That is normal. The activity log keeps one newest-first list of the significant changes across your account, so you do not have to ask around or open ten different pages.
Where it lives
1. Open Settings.
2. Open Account and billing.
3. Open Activity log.
Only owners and managers can open it. If your role is office or field, the tab does not appear. (That is expected behavior, not a broken page.)
What a row tells you
Each row has six columns: Time, Actor, Category, Entity, Action, Summary.
- Time: when it happened, shown in your account's time zone.
- Actor: the team member who did it, or System, or Storefront customer. People who no longer have access are marked (former).
- Category: which area it belongs to. The ten categories are Orders, Inventory, Products & pricing, Coupons, Tax, Team, Security, Website, Settings, and Customers.
- Entity: the record it happened to. Most rows link straight to the record. Rows for deleted records show (deleted) and have no link.
- Action: what happened. Invite rows read as plain sentences: "Invited an owner", "Resent invitation", "Revoked invitation".
- Summary: a one-line description of the change.
What gets recorded
- Orders, inventory, and tote events: bookings, tote movements, pools, packages, and sellable items.
- Products and pricing: new products appear as Created rows, plus pricing ruleset and template changes.
- Coupons and tax configuration.
- Team: invitations and member changes. You see who invited whom and at which role.
- Settings: edits to storefront, emails, documents, rental period, delivery, pricing, locations, categories, product groups, domains, scripts, and integrations (including Google Analytics connect, config saves, and disconnects). These rows link to the settings section they came from.
- Customer record changes.
- Website and security events. The Security category is visible to owners only.
Narrowing it down
1. Tick the checkboxes under Categories to show only the areas you care about.
2. Pick an actor from the Actor list: Everyone, System, Storefront customer, or one team member.
3. Set From and To to bound the date range.
4. Select Clear filters to start over.
Rows load 50 at a time. Use Load more at the bottom to see older entries.
What the log does not show
The honest tradeoff: the log records what changed, not why. If the why matters, check with the person in the Actor column.
Two more things worth knowing. Values that could leak secrets are redacted when the row is written. A row might tell you a field changed without showing the old or new value. For API keys, integration tokens, and email addresses, you see the field name, not the contents. And office and field users cannot open the log at all, so don't send them a link to it. They will land back on Settings.
If it looks wrong
- "No activity matches these filters." That is a filter miss, not missing data. Select Clear filters and try again.
- You opened a link to the log and landed back on Settings. Your role cannot view the log. Ask an owner or manager.
- A load error appears with a Retry button. Select Retry. If it keeps failing, reload the page and check your connection before assuming the data is gone.
You open the log, you filter, you read the row, you follow the link. If a row points to a settings page you do not recognize, the link on the row is the fastest way to find where that setting lives.
