Change how prices and currency are shown

Where the currency, symbol, and position settings live, and how they show up in the dashboard, the storefront, and generated documents.

Your storefront shows prices one way and you would rather show them another. Maybe you want `USD 125.99` instead of `$125.99`, or you operate in Canada and want prices labeled CAD. This is the setting that controls that.

Go to Settings → Pricing → General. The panel is headed General ("Default pricing preferences.") and has three fields:

1. Currency: the dropdown lists USD and CAD. Pick the one your prices are quoted in.

2. Display currency as: Symbol ($) or Code (USD).

3. Currency position: Before amount or After amount.

Below the fields, an Example line shows a sample price in exactly the format you picked. Click Save. The change takes effect right away.

Where it shows up

The setting controls how money is shown, not how money is charged. An amount that carries its own currency keeps it; the Currency dropdown supplies the code when an amount does not carry one.

It applies in three places:

  • Dashboard. Every read-only price in the dashboard follows these settings: orders, products, reports, the Today page, Money. Change the settings and the dashboard re-renders immediately. Price inputs and the save path are unchanged, and your own OnTote plan page (Money → Fees & pricing) always stays USD.
  • Storefront. Prices, checkout totals, and confirmations on your booking page use the same format your customers see on screen.
  • Documents. Invoices, supplementary invoices, quotes, contracts, and credit notes generated after the change use the new format. Packing slips and tote labels carry no money, so they are unaffected.

Already-generated documents keep the format from the day they were generated. If you need the new format on an old document, regenerate it.

Two things that are not this setting

First, your storefront still charges through your own Stripe account in the currency your account and prices are set up for. This page changes labels and positions, never the currency of a charge.

Second, the issuing-entity currency on your business profile (set in your company details) is a separate value that identifies your business on documents. It is not controlled from this page.

If it does not behave

  • The fields are disabled or Save does nothing. Managing pricing settings needs an owner, manager, or office role. Ask a teammate with one of those roles to make the change.
  • The storefront still shows the old format. The storefront follows the same settings, but a page someone loaded earlier may show a cached copy. Reload it. If a price is written directly into your storefront content (not a rate from your catalog), that text is yours and the setting cannot rewrite it.
  • A price shows a code like `EUR 55.61` instead of a symbol. Only USD and CAD get symbols. Anything else renders as its code, which is the setting working as designed. If you see a code you do not recognize, check Currency first.
